There comes a point when a tree can’t stay. It has died, it is splitting, it leans a little more each year, or it stands in the footprint of the addition you’re planning. Rock Hill Tree Care Co. handles tree removal for homeowners across Rock Hill, and the first visit and the quote are free.
Around here that usually means a willow oak, a water oak or a tall loblolly pine. Many were planted when the street was new and now tower over the houses beside them. Tree cutting with a roof on one side and a fence on the other takes planning before the first cut.
That is why a tree close to a home is normally dismantled in sections and lowered, not dropped in one piece.
You may not need removal at all. If only part of the tree is the problem, pruning it can be enough, and it is worth asking before you decide.
A tree that is already on the ground, or leaning on the house, belongs on the emergency page. Better still, call.
Call 803-267-5527 or send the form. A rough height and a note about what stands close to the tree will help us picture the job.

Any one of these is a reason to get an opinion, not proof that the tree is finished.
We look at the tree, the ground around it and the route in from the street, then give you a figure. Bring up the stump and the firewood now so both are covered in the quote.
A tree with nothing around it can occasionally be notched and felled in a single piece. That is the exception in a built-up neighborhood. The usual approach is for a climber to strip the limbs, then work down the trunk, roping each cut section to the ground. Some trees are better handled with a lift or a crane, depending on their size and how close a truck can get.
Limbs are fed to a chipper and the trunk is cut into lengths and taken away, or left if you asked for the wood. What remains is a stump cut close to the soil. It can be ground out too if stump grinding is on the quote.

Trouble in one part of a tree is not a verdict on the whole tree. A single dead leader, a limb scraping the gutter or a lopsided crown are all things pruning can correct.
Taking the tree out makes sense when the fault is in the trunk or below ground. Rot at the base, roots that have let go, and a tree that has simply died can’t be pruned away. The same goes for a sound tree in an impossible spot, hard against the foundation or in the path of new construction.
It is common not to know which side of the line a tree falls on. Call 803-267-5527 and we’ll come and look.
Tree removal cost depends on the tree, so a removal is priced after the tree has been seen, never before. Seeing it is free. The quote reflects:

It varies more than people expect. A young tree standing by itself in the back corner is a short piece of work. A mature oak with limbs spread above a house and a fence has to be dismantled piece by piece and takes far longer. You’ll hear what your tree involves when it is quoted.
Say so at the visit. The trunk and larger limbs can be cut to length and left where you want them, and only the brush goes.
Heavy equipment and falling wood can leave ruts and dents, more so when the clay is wet. Show us the parts of the yard you care most about, such as a drain field, irrigation or a new lawn, so the plan can work around them.
